Letter from the President of SIES
An invitation to share knowledge, experience and new perspectives at SIES 2027.
Dear Colleagues,
It is a pleasure to invite you to Bologna on 25–27 February 2027 for the 28th SIES International Congress of Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery. We will meet again at the Palazzo della Cultura e dei Congressi to share knowledge, compare experiences and create new opportunities for our professional community to grow.
I believe that the value of a congress lies in the quality of the questions it encourages us to ask and the tools it gives us to address them. With this in mind, we have designed an edition in which scientific updates, observation of practice and discussion among colleagues are closely connected. SIES 2027 will be an opportunity to examine the reasoning behind clinical decisions, discuss the indications and limitations of techniques and learn from experiences different from our own.
Among the highlights, I would first like to draw your attention to the pre-congress Live Cadaver Lab & Live Injection course. The relationship between anatomical knowledge and injection practice is a fundamental part of education. Dedicating a specific course to this relationship brings the focus back to the landmarks that inform planning and technical execution.
Live education will also play a central role during the congress. The Glass Box will provide a dedicated space for aesthetic treatment demonstrations, while Congress Live Treatments will connect scientific discussion with the observation of procedures. These complementary formats will allow participants to follow practical steps and understand the reasoning behind them.
These experiences will be complemented by the SIES Skill Labs: tutor-led, small-group learning sessions that provide space for questions and closer examination of specific technical aspects. Focused workshops will also allow participants to explore individual topics, techniques and clinical applications in depth, enriching the educational programme.
Our international outlook is another important part of the congress. Curated international sessions will offer opportunities to compare approaches and experience, bringing different perspectives to the discussion. In this spirit, I am pleased to welcome Dr Jack Zamora from the United States as President of SIES Congress 2027. A Denver-based oculofacial plastic surgeon active in medical education and minimally invasive aesthetic techniques, he will contribute his experience of international scientific exchange.
We also wish to recognise the work of those who choose to share their knowledge. The Crescenzo Di Donato Awards will honour the best presentations by graduates of VALET & SIES training programmes, highlighting the connection between education and participation in scientific life. The Enrico Follador Awards will recognise the best poster presentations, celebrating both the quality of the contributions and their communication to the congress community.
We will return to the same venue, with an important addition: a new exhibition pavilion designed to bring leading companies in the field together in a cohesive setting. It will be a place to discover technologies and professional solutions, ask questions and deepen the dialogue between clinical experience and innovation.
Alongside the sessions and educational activities, I would like to emphasise the value of networking. A congress also comes to life in conversations between presentations, in meeting a colleague, sharing an experience or beginning a collaboration. These moments enrich our work and strengthen our sense of belonging to a professional community.
I invite you to approach SIES 2027 with curiosity and a willingness to participate: choose the sessions closest to your interests, bring your questions and contribute to the discussion. The quality of this meeting will also depend on what each of us brings to it.
